History

Svedbergs history started 1920, when Holger Svedberg started his small tin making workshop in Dalstorp, Southwest Sweden. He made milk churns for the local farmers.

1960´s

Historia62.jpgThe sons Sune and Stig Svedberg took over the workshop and designed and made a new kind of bathroom cabinets that had lights.

1970´s

Historia70.jpgSvedbergs launched the first bathroom furniture. This was new thinking in the industry and cabinets with names such as Millie and Nyform entered the marketplace. A new factory of 6000 sqm was built 1972.

1980´s

Historia80.jpgSvedbergs was quoted on the Swedish stock exchange on the new OTC* list as the 3 company to be noted there. The market place for the combination of cabinets and vanity units is opening up and Svedbergs is setting the trend. The turn over increase from 64 mSEKr to 170 mSEK. The share price fo from 13.50 SEK to 110.00 SEK *similar to London’s AIM

1990´s

Historia90.jpgThe slowdown of the economy hits Svedbergs. To stay competitive on the markets Svedbergs expand the concept from cabinets and vanity units to offer the customer the complete bathroom. Svedbergs is quoted on the Swedish stock exchange the second time around in 1997. The first edition of the Bathroom book is launched 1998 – the first all comprehensive consumer catalogue in the business. The turn over exceeds 300mSEK in 1999.

2000

Historia00.jpgThe market for Svedbergs complete bathrooms is taking off and the consumer wants to order everything from one supplier; furniture, vanity units, mirror cabinets, WC it should all work together to create harmony in the bathroom. Design in the bathroom!

2003

Historia03.jpgFolling years of product development the new Indigo range is launched. A small revolution in the industry with its confident design statement, three types of wash basins and many new functions, but above all storage in drawers instead of cupboards.

2004

Historia04.jpgThe industry is again taken by surprise when Svedbergs launch the bathroom sauna. A small and practial sauna, that does not take up much more space than a standard bath. You can put it together in a day and it is placed in its natural position –the bathroom – hence the name. Forget saunas in cold basements and pine finishes. Following Svedbergs theme the bathroom sauna fits in perfectly in the bathroom in order to create a harmonious bathroom.

2005

Historia05.jpgThe Svedbergs range is constantly being developed. In 2005 it is the Classic series that has been given a facelift, most of the storage comes in the shape of drawers. There is a integrated laundry basket amongst other new practical storage solutions. To complete the look in the bathroom you can chose the new wall hung WC with a panel in the same finish as the furniture and bathroom sauna.

2006

Historia06.jpgTvå sköna solitärer tar plats i Svedbergs badrum och låter direkt tala om sig. Duschserien Cube, med en väl tilltagen ångkabin som flaggskepp och det vackert skulpterade badkaret Oval 170. Indigo får dessutom flera nya tvättställ och bänkskiva i glas. Företaget växer och omsättningen för året är nu för första gången över 500 miljoner kronor.
